FRVTA Distance Learning Network
Florida RV Trade Association (FRVTA) first developed RV industry’s Distance Learning Network (DLN). The DLN program provides unlimited access to over 50 online training sessions until July 31 of each calendar year for a fee of US$995 per dealership location. The online training includes: RV technician certification preparation, Service Writers/Advisors, Greeters/Receptionists, Dealers/General Managers. Advanced supplier and manufacturer training is also available.
Subscription to the online program includes unlimited access by dealership staff to over 50, hour-long training video recordings, reviews, and test preparation sections. The content is available online and can be accessed anywhere, anytime. RVIA textbooks (not included in course fee) support the program by providing technicians with a print-based reference tool. The textbooks are an important resource for technicians participating in the training.
The Distance Learning Network program was developed in partnership with the University of South Florida and Florida Gateway College (formerly Lake City Community College), and managed by a professional staff of educators and industry trainers.
Programming is available for technicians on two levels following the career ladder. RV Technician Certification Prep program is designed to prepare Registered Technicians to take the RVIA/RVDA Technician Certification Test(s), and a variety of Advanced Supplier and Manufacturer training designed to upgrade and/or enhance current technical skills.
The certification process begins with the RV Service Technician Candidate level which provides a basic orientation to the RV Service Technician career. Next comes the Registered Technician level where the core knowledge of propane, basic electrical, and other skills are mastered. The technician then moves on to one of two paths. The registered technician can choose to take the comprehensive test which covers all subjects required for certification and master certification or move through the individual specialties. Once a technician holds all five Specialties, or passes the full certification test at the master level, and meets the work experience requirement then the technician becomes a Master Certified RV Technician.
