RV Tech Week celebrates the people who keep every trip safe

June 1–5, 2026

Every year during the first week of June, we shine a spotlight on the skilled tradespeople who keep our homes-on-wheels road-ready. Whether you're an RV fan, a curious traveller, or a hands-on problem solver looking for your next move, RV Tech Week is your chance to discover the people, skills, and tech that power the RV lifestyle.

What is RV Tech Week?

For one week each June, we pause to celebrate RV service technicians across Canada. RV Tech Week, June 1 to 5, is a Canada-wide spotlight on RV service technicians. These are the Red Seal and apprentice professionals who diagnose, repair, and maintain everything in the RV that makes it livable. Think electrical, plumbing, propane, solar and batteries, HVAC, appliances, roofs and seals, slide-outs, carpentry, and structural water repair.

They do not work on engines or chassis drivetrains. Their expertise starts where the driver's seat ends.

The week is for owners to say thanks, for students to see a real multi-trade career, and for the industry to show what skilled work actually looks like.

Why 27 Skills Matters

27 Skills. One RV Tech.

We did not invent the number. We counted the trades.

An RV is a house, a floating castle, and an off-grid cabin, all forced to survive a highway at 100 km/h. One morning a tech is an electrician tracing a short in an inverter. By lunch they are a plumber rebuilding a shower valve. In the afternoon they are an HVAC tech cleaning a furnace sail switch, then a carpenter cutting out rot, then a solar integrator programming a lithium system.

Most people assume RV tech is one trade. It is closer to ten, practiced in tight spaces, with real families waiting at the counter.

This year we are not using vague praise. We are showing the range, naming the skills, and letting the work speak.

27 Skills in One Day – a real shift

Follow a Tuesday in the shop with alex

Alex does not touch engines. Her work starts where the driver’s seat ends.

7:30 am: A motorhome has no shore power and an owner due in Tofino by noon. Alex traces past the cord to a loose neutral in the transfer switch and a tripped inverter tucked behind a panel. Power back by 8:15.

10:15 am: A travel trailer with a soft floor by the door. Alex pulls the vinyl, finds rot from a window leak that tracked two feet inside the wall. She rebuilds the substrate, reseals the exterior, and walks the owner through where to check next spring.

1:00 pm: Fifth wheel, furnace short cycling on a cold mountain night. Not the thermostat. Alex cleans the sail switch, checks propane pressure, confirms duct flow. The family keeps their reservation.

3:40 pm: Full-time travelers need solar. Alex mounts panels, wires a lithium bank under the dinette, programs the controller, pairs the app to their phone so they can monitor power from anywhere.

Four different families. Four different systems. One technician, one day. That is not someone who dabbles. That is someone who has learned to think across trades because Alex is more concerned that the families don’t miss their camping trips.

That is what 27 skills looks like when it is working.
